Longmont Police forgive man who shot at them
Monday, 27 March 2023
In January of 2022, two of our police officers were shot at by a man who was trying to avoid being arrested. One officer was forced to dive out of his moving vehicle to avoid being hit. This man was shooting at officers near an elementary school in the middle of the day. To help stop the ongoing threat to the community, another officer drove his vehicle at the suspect, even as the suspect continued to fire at him.
The offender was recently sentenced to 60 years in prison. Despite this heinous act, our officers showed incredible professionalism and dignity while giving impact statements during the sentencing hearing.
